I would vote no, for progress

Obviously that was the Chiefs themselves messing with the clock at the end of the first half on Christmas Eve. Notice how we never heard the referee telling anyone to "reset the clock to 15 seconds"? Everyone had the right time the display was simply turned off by the man in the box to illustrate how old and out of date Arrowhead is. Ok Fine. Its old, Its Shitty, It dont work. Got it.
How bout we build you a new one. The people of KC love their Chiefs. Put out a bi-state initiative to build a new modern retractable-roof arrowhead or do a Lambeau style renovation with no roof of the old Arrowhead. Just leave the Royals out of it. Drop baseball, add in more voters on the Ks side. I bet you could get just about whatever you wanted. Oh yeah and up the Anty that the Chiefs put in. Its just a token but how about 75 or 100 million of the NFLs money.

Having said that, lets talk Royals first. Again I believe in the Bi-State option. theres just more people and if its a good plan then i believe that intelligant Kansas Citians can agree. If you have not been to Denver, Baltimore, Cleveland, or any other new modern dowtown ballpark, then go. You only need to go once, see a game one time at any of these places, to know that we should have that here in Kansas City.

I need to do some research on how much of this can be going on at the same time. Some questions I have. Has Football ever been played at Kaufman stadium or a similar structure? If the chiefs were to play even one home game outside of arrowhead what would the options be?

Why do I want it?

The Super Bowl.
I wonder if I have to pay to post that here.
Anyways, please someone tell me why we would want a Super Bowl in Kansas City.
We will not neccasarily make a large anmount for hosting the game, not when directly compared against the cost of this renovation plan AND a roof.
Last time I checked Kansas City was calling itself a "cowtown" and took pride in that. Not that we dont have all the luxuries and downfalls of a moderately sized metropolitian area. The people in this community take pride in our "midwestern values". A more apt phrase might be practical sensibility and public politeness. Does this imiage fit with the flash and "Hollywood" atmosphere that a Super Bowl would bring.
Its for Lamar.
Uh no its not. If the NFL wanted to do something to recognize the contributions of Lamar Hunt that is up to them, and its a great idea. I support it. However, as a cummunity I would like to point out that we have made conributions to the legacy of the great howetown sports owner in the history of Kansas City. Is across from Arrowhead and that man was Ewing Kaufman. Bottom line Lamar Hunt is a fine decent man, he has done great things for sports in Kansas City and Kansas City as a whole but he is not one of us. He is a Texan. Let them build him a done for one Super Bownl.
Other events.
I would like to see a Final Four here. This a great spot for college Basketball. One of the great spots for it in fact, especially when the only D-1 team in town is far from a national power. Unfortunatley we decided not to build our arena large enough for it, so its not coming. Even if we built some kind of metal tent over Arrowhead, I would imagine the NCAA would giggle at the thought of playing in such a contraption when there are so many other options open to them. Indianapolis maybe?
Any addition events booked by the new tin canned Arrowhead are offset by the damage done by playing chiefs games under a roof. And yes the NFL would make them close it.

Why do I want it?

A Stadium?

If anyone has been to Denver they know excatly how much a dowtown stadium can effect a city. Ten years ago dowtown Denver was on its way to become the new Detriot. Then they built one of the best ballparks in the history of baseball. In addition to the stadium the people and planners of the city of Denver deveoped the area known as LoDo into a stylish shopping and bar district.
If a your city had the oppourtunity to follow this pattern and possibly match this economic renesaince in their own downtown would you be excited, would you be hopefull, or would you just tell everyone that your city is not capable that something like that cant happen here, that we CANT.
Apparantley I live in CANTsas City.
Who knew.

Absolutley horrible thoughts in my head in regards to the new of Tony Dungys son passing away today. We always hear about the inhuman hours that NFL head coaches put in on a weekly basis. They also move their families in patterns similar to that of Military Families. Did Mr dungys job and the hours he spent doing it contribute to what happened? Who could possibly know, certainley i do not, but how could one not have the thought in the back of your mind.

Is that Ok? Is it ok that people are pushing themselves and thier families in this way so that we can watch a game one day a week? Thats a little deep for me, but how about this one? What the F^%k are these guys doing for 80 hours a week? I have recorded and rewatched many an NFL game. I have taken meticulous notes and used the pause button feverishly. Never has this process taken me more than 8 total hours. granted I am just one fan, not a coach, but you would have to figure that a coach has a little better idea what he is looking for than i do. Then we need to factor in the number of caoches that are doing this everyday. the chiefs for instance have soething like 20 coaches on staff. If you give them 20 hours a week for practice (generous) that still means that these people are spending more that 1000 man hours preparing for a 3 hour game. WHAT THE F*&K!
Maybe its time we let these coaches know that 50 or 60 hours is ok, that watching film for 2-3 hours a day instead of 8-10 is ok.

The begining

Welcome to my Blog. I have no idea why you are here reading this. I am not sure why I am here posting this.
First lets discuss the name of the blog. The Norse Code is nonsense. I thought it rolled off the toungue and since I am from Norwegian descent i felt it had some meaning to my life. Im sure most anyone else will see it as pure nonsense and this is understood.
Second we should address what you will find on this blog. Again I wil use the word nonsense. For the most part that will be what i give you here. I will most often address subjects that i know something about. There are very few of those. I reside in Overland Park Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City. I watch a great deal ofthe sports from teams in this area and those teams and their games will be a primary focus of this site. In addition the sports media of this town will garner a bit of my attention. I have little to no attention span however so most of the free world is fair game here. Humor and sarcasism are the mechanisms i will most often use to deliver my points.
Again, why you are here is a mystery to me. Why I am here is a mystery to everyone. Good luck, good reading and I hope you had a chuckle.
