Mizz-eww

Here are some thoughts on the KU-MU game.

I feel bad for Melvin Watkins. He acknowledged when he left A&M that he was not currently capable of being a head coach in the Big 12. His players have improved there in his absence. He went to MU to gain experience. He could have looked for another head job in this conference in as little as 2 years with some measure of success in Columbia. The time he will have to wait grows longer with every loss as "interim" coach for the Tigers. It appears that he will join a growing group under Quinn Snyder's bus. MU should have fired Quinn this past off season and now , since they didn't, all of those involved in the decision to bring him back are paying the price. But Melvin Watkins' only mistake was taking the job.

Jeremy Case. To ways to look at this. On a deep run in the tournament, one could see a game where Case clicks and hits 3 or 4 triples in a game. I t is inevitable that if Ku were to advance a surprise scorer will be needed. Jeff Hawkins has played this role. As did Kaun against early opponents. Or not. Perhaps Self has decided that his shot is flawed, and keep him on the bench in favor of a more physical Roderick Stewart as the 4th or "emergency' guard. Stewart does not appear to be confident in his own ball handling while Case does, plus these guys are on the deep end of the bench, so why should we spend any more time on them.

I'm not sure how to view the Texas Game. I would agree with the opinion the Jayhawks could have trouble with their next loss. Should they beat Texas they would most definitely find their next challenge in the Big 12 tournament. This could be a recipe for a first round tournament loss. Or not. Some would say that a victory over Texas might mean a Self has unlocked a beast, and we are in a Time Machine headed for 1988.
Again I agree with the first opinion, however that means that win or lose I am in a nervous state throughout the Big 12 tournament and right through however much of March they get to play.
Not fun.
