Goodbye to Aaron?
I mean Aaron Guiel.
If you wonder where I have been and why I have not posted lately, you're crazy. Be thankful that you got a brief repreive from the blithering blather that is theis blog. Now for the carzies, I had a baby. Actaully my wife did, you would have seen it on the news if I had. But babies take time and energy. Blogs do not, yet is use this as my excuse for being away.
Now I have returned and I feel we should move in a new direction. My Jayhawks have wounded me deeply for a second consecutive year and I am not capable yet of discussing it. From the Royals I expect failure, so I am more prepared to handle it. I hope Aaron Guiel feels the same. He was given a role with the 2006 Royals this week, and it is a particularly difficult one. He was not given a starting job, or a 4th outfielders job, or much of a "job" at all. He was sent to the minors again. but this is different. He will carry throughout the season a heavy lable. "Savior".
The Royals believe Shane Costa can provide what Gueil gives and he is younger. For younger let us subsititue the term "unproven" Gueil is capable of being a 4th outfielder and spot started and bat off the bench in the big leagues, he has proven it before. Should Costa falter, he will be called upon to do it again. And when he comes up so will the expectations of the team. He will not be alone. His main co-consporitor in the so called saving of the season is most likely going to be Justin Huber. When Sweeney goes down, when not if, Huber will join Gueil in the role of calvary men from the minors riding in to save our season.
It seems to me that if these two are capable of playing roles on the 06 Royals then we dont really need Doug Mientkiewicz or Matt Stairs. But thats just me. Perhaps we can use those two in combination with one of our young pitchers in a trade for a pitcher who actually has some talent, sounds a little too optimistic to me also.
